Wordpress: a bomb waiting to explode into your face

Wordpress: a bomb waiting to explode into your face

Architecturally, Wordpress is a landmine waiting to explode.

It looks like Wordpress core developers and plugin developers never read this page: https://www.w3schools.com/php/php_exception.asp Otherwise they would have known that errors have to be handled instead of being thrown into the site owner's and their users' faces.

But no, genius developers do not have to handle errors! Let exceptions rain! And we have WP's signature white screen of death and PHP errors all over the place. And when they occur there will be no support whatsoever. PHP developers and their hired representatives on wordpress.org are trained bouncers, and they are skilled in throwing you, pesky users, out of the door.

Do not repeat the costly mistake made by many: never bet your success on a PHP CMS!

There is a question on Software Engineering Stack Exchange: "Why is there so much hatred for PHP?"

Before the gatekeeper closed it, someone managed to provide an answer: it is hated by the users of Wordpress. There is a lot of truth and wisdom, in that answer. Wordpress relies on 4 things:

  1. Plugins
  2. Wordpress
  3. PHP
  4. Apache

All 4 are unsupported, open-source pieces of software. Each plugin has a Support forum, on WP site. But answers from their developers are not guaranteed. And when an answer comes, in 90% cases it will blame other plugins/themes.

Wordpress support blames plugins in 100% cases. It is a safe, conservative approach: a site w/o plugins is not functional, so no site runs w/o plugins. They can pass the blame.

PHP used to be pretty good, 10 years ago. The last version that worked well was 7.0.x. Since then it is a SNAFU on FUBAR, lather, rinse, and repeat.

Apache is owned by Microsoft. This tells you all you need to know. MS needs no competition to its products, so Apache products... well, they suck louder and louder, by day.

Sucks to be you, Wordpress users!
